Job summary

HDR is seeking an Advanced Technology for Surface Transportation (ATST) & Funding Intern to support ITS, ACES vehicle projects, and EV infrastructure planning in the Midwest, with emphasis on Missouri and Kansas. The intern will work under the ATST and Funding Section in Kansas City, reporting to the appropriate supervisor, and engage in grant-writing and geospatial analysis tasks.

This temporary, full-time internship offers exposure to multidisciplinary teams across transportation planning,

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Basic Microsoft Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide support on ITS and traffic management system projects, including planning, engineering, design, integration, deployment, operations and maintenance, and communications
• Automated, Connected, Electric, and Shared (ACES) vehicle projects and emerging technology projects
• Electric Vehicle (EV) infrastructure planning and siting
• Grant‑writing assistance
• Geospatial analysis and mapping
