Job description

As an Advanced Systems Engineer – Fire Systems and AI at Honeywell, you will provide expert-level technical leadership in designing and developing safety-critical systems for commercial fire alarm products. You will support engineering processes, technology, and best practices, adopting AI agents and other tools to accelerate product development.

You will report directly to our Global Fire Chief Architect and work from our Atlanta, Georgia, or Northford, Connecticut locations (based on preference) on a hybrid schedule.

This role involves driving the architecture and systems engineering of global safety-critical (SIL2) technologies such as fire alarm control panels, audio-video notification devices, smoke/gas/heat detectors, and public voice announcement systems. Technologies also include wireless mesh networking and AI/ML edge innovation. We seek an innovative thinker with strong systems experience to develop and deploy a vision of AI agents supporting systems engineering processes. Let’s shape the future together!

Our systems engineers play a critical role in supporting teams to perform at their best and drive change across Honeywell. You will help build a diverse team by mentoring and coaching on technology development and systems engineering processes across global release trains.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Lead the architecture definition and proof of concept development for next-generation fire safety products.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute pre-discovery and discovery activities within a SAFe framework.
  3. Manage critical design review processes, metrics, and facilitate CDRs across global release trains.
  4. Provide technical leadership for systems engineering activities, ensuring built-in quality, and evaluate process automation tools.
  5. Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in engineering R&D process automation tools.

YOU MUST HAVE
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
  • 8+ years of experience as a systems engineer in complex, globally distributed safety-critical product development.
  • 4+ years of experience with SAFe or other Agile methodologies, preferably in safety-critical environments.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to convey complex technical concepts to stakeholders.
  • Ability to resolve complex cross-functional conflicts to optimize product architecture.
