Job summary

IU Health in Indianapolis is seeking a part-time Surgical Enhanced Technologist to support pre-, intra-, and post-operative activities. The role focuses on ensuring the presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment, supplies, and instrumentation for each case, and providing hands-on assistance to the surgeon as allowed by standards.

You will participate in OR turnover, train colleagues, and serve as a resource to junior staff while upholding strict sterile technique and regulatory

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or GED.
• NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Expert in advanced technology used in surgical settings (lasers, robotics, navigational tech, implantable devices).
• Documentation of 19 Contact Hours of Continuing Education required.
• Knowledge of surgical equipment and instrumentation.
• Adherence to sterile field policies and regulations.
• Minimum 1 year OR experience in Skilled Technologist role or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Assists in ensuring presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment, supplies and instrumentation in the OR prior to each operation.
• Provides assistance to the surgeon in the operating room as allowed by standards.
• Assists in turnover of the OR after the procedure, ensuring proper routing and processing of specimens, equipment, instrumentation and supplies.
• Trains colleagues on various skills and tasks and acts as a mentor to less experienced staff.
