Army National Guard Units is seeking a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC (TITLE 32) in Illinois. You will maintain, repair, and overhaul a variety of vehicles and equipment, diagnose failures with test tools, and perform disassembly/reassembly of engines and subsystems.

The role requires heavy mechanical skills, the ability to work remotely in field locations, and adherence to manuals and safety standards. Salary ranges from $25.37 to $37.11 per hour with a Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone; education cannot substitute for experience.
• No substitution of education for experience is permitted for this occupational series and grade.
• Open under the Nguard hiring path and managed as a National Guard Title 32 position.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, inspection, and overhaul of combat, tactical, and automotive vehicles and equipment.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose failures using test equipment and diagnostics; repair engines, transmissions, drive lines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Disassemble and reassemble engines and major assemblies, replace defective parts, and reinstall tested components.
• Work independently in remote locations to remove, clean, reinstall, or replace parts such as injectors, wheel cylinders, mufflers, fuel systems, or regulators.
