Job Description

Now is a great time to join the Danfoss Team in Ames, IA! We are seeking an experienced Advanced Supplier Quality Engineer to pro-actively ensure supplier and internal conformance at launch of sourcing projects through the use of advanced quality planning tools. This ASQE role will provide front end support for business case preparation, and this role will focus on our Americas Region foundry supply base and have extensive knowledge of this commodity. This role will be responsible for solid, fact-based feasibility study from suppliers, and preparation of supplier for successful PPAP submission, approval and product launching (series production).


Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:



  • Assessment of supplier ability to produce components according to Danfoss requirements.

  • Evaluation of correctness/completeness of technical documentation and/or specifications.

  • Verification of corrective actions agreed with supplier required for project start.

  • Fact based feedback to Sourcing Project Manager - permission to start (or stop) project: (specifications clear, supplier ready, resources available, etc.)

  • Leading PMR (Pre-manufacturing review) meetings. template distribution, pre-work data collection, Pre-Manufacturing Review (PMR) meeting facilitation, documenting identified actions and dates.

  • Verification of corrective actions agreed with supplier during PMR required for successful project implementation.

  • PPAP worksheet creation and support, potential of being at the supplier for the on-site PPAP run off, follow up and correction of identified gaps.

  • Full responsibility for problem solving related to quality issues which occur in first 6 months from project implementation via Safe Launch program and continue development throughout the lifecycle of the product.

  • Ensure supplier has the capability, capacity, understanding, and has closed all risk gaps to be fully ready for successful launch.

  • Manage APQP with selected high-risk suppliers/parts.

  • Ensure all aspects of the PPAP requirements from Danfoss are clearly defined, are understood by the supplier, the supplier completes all documents thoroughly, and the PPAP submission meets all Danfoss expectations.


Background & Skills

Required Qualifications



  • Understands foundry processes, procedures, and problem solving methods.

  • Bachelor's degree at an accredited institution in Quality Controlor Engineeringfield.

  • Root Cause Problem Solvingexperience

  • APQP Toolbox (IATF Toolbox)

  • PPAP and Change Control experience.



Preferred Qualifications



  • Education or history in Metrology.

  • ASQE Certified (ASQ CQE/CQM/ASQP)

  • Certified lead internal auditor (ISO9001 / IATF16949)



Job Criteria


* Must be an effective team leader with good communication skills.

* Must have analytical thinking, problem-solving experience, a sense of urgency, and managerial courage.

* Understanding and applying of ISO/IATF16949, CQI Assessments, AIAG PPAP, APQP, MSA, SPC, FMEA, and other quality system standards and tools are essential.


* Must be willing to travel up to 25% of time during needed activities.
