Job summary

Oregon Health & Science University in Portland seeks a Central Sterile Processing Technician II to perform routine maintenance and preparation of instruments, supplies and equipment requiring decontamination and sterilization. This is the second level of a three-level series.

It is distinguished from the lower level by increased responsibility for the sterilization, assembly, and testing of medical equipment, supplies and instruments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• National certification from CBSPD or HSPA required at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Knowledge of handling and care of instrumentation and tray preparation; assemble trays and apply sterilization and infection control principles.
• Performs routine instrument and equipment quality checks.
• Dispense equipment and instrumentation; restock carts; assist with OR turnover; put aways (instruments, supplies, equipment); maintain patient and customer focus.
• Operate equipment including cart washers, decontaminators, computers, ultrasonic, scanners, telephones, and photocopiers.
• All duties of Sterile Processing Technician I.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Certification CBSPD or HSPA (IAHCSMM)
