Advanced Step Apprentice/Journeyman Lineman - Abbotsford, WI

Join to apply for the Advanced Step Apprentice/Journeyman Lineman - Abbotsford, WI role at Xcel Energy.

We are seeking one or more Advanced Step Apprentice/Journeyman Lineman at our Abbotsford Distribution Shop, Wisconsin. The starting pay for Journeyman is $57.12 hourly, with the position posted from May 2nd to May 22nd, 2025.

An Advanced Step Apprentice will be compensated at 80% of the Journeyman rate at 5th Step, increasing to 95% at 8th Step.

Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and remove overhead and underground distribution conductors and equipment.
  • Climb poles, work on energized conductors and equipment, perform hot stick work on high voltage conductors.
  • Work in various weather conditions, participate in callout work, and perform all other duties outlined for linemen.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Technical School Lineman degree preferred.
  • Qualified as a Journeyman Lineman with knowledge of Distribution and Transmission Construction, Maintenance, and Operation.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience with bucket trucks, digger derricks, trenchers, and groundwork required.
  • Commitment to safety and compliance with safety rules.
  • Physically capable of performing line work including lifting, climbing, and operating equipment.
  • Willing to travel and work away from home.
  • Reside within 20 miles of the Abbotsford Service Center within 6 months of hire.
  • Possess a valid CDL Class A license and meet FMCSR driver qualification requirements.
  • Subject to D.O.T. drug and alcohol testing.
