Xcel Energy in Faribault, MN is seeking one or more 3rd Step Apprentice/Journeyman Lineman for the Faribault Service Center. The role involves performing all Lineman duties on overhead and underground distribution/transmission systems, with a strong safety and customer service emphasis.

The schedule includes progression through wage steps, starting at 70% of Journeyman pay for Apprentice and advancing through 95% at higher steps, with a base Journeyman rate of $62.27 hourly.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must possess a degree/diploma from an accepted Line School.
• Must meet driver qualification requirements, including the possession of a valid Commercial Class A Driver's License.
• Must be physically capable of performing all aspects of electric overhead and underground distribution construction, operations, and maintenance work.
• Must have good communication and teamwork skills.
• Must presently be qualified to be a 3rd Step Apprentice Lineman or higher.
• Must be self-motivated and possess a positive attitude.
• Demonstrated commitment to work safely and productively.

We anticipate the need for one or more 3rd Step Apprentice / Journeyman Lineman to be located at the Faribault Service Center in Faribault, MN. The base rate of pay for Journeyman Lineman is $62.27 hourly according to the “Exhibit A” wage scale. A 3rd Step Apprentice will be coming in at 70% of the Journeyman rate of pay at $43.59. 4th Step at 75%, 5th Step at 80%, 85% at 6th Step, 90% at 7th Step, or 95% at a 8th Step. This position will be posted for 10 Working Days from September 9, 2026, to September 22, 2026.

Summary

Perform all duties of the Lineman Classification. Including work on overhead and underground electric distribution and transmission systems. Individual filling this position should have a high-level commitment to safety, provide quality customer service, be self-motivated and possess a positive attitude.
