Job summary

AdventHealth in Tampa, FL is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide patient care, including aerosolized meds, oxygen therapy, and ventilation, in a fast-paced setting. You will perform blood gas analysis, respond to rapid responses, manage ventilators, and participate in interdisciplinary rounds.

The role requires RRT licensure, BLS, NRP, and 1+ year critical care experience, with 3+ years in Respiratory Care; you will mentor others and support shift leads while ensuring regulatory

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care to patients, including aerosolized meds, oxygen therapy and ventilation
• Draw, analyze, and report blood gas results; respond to rapid response and code blue; perform CPR as needed
• Manage invasive and non-invasive ventilators; document changes
• Assist with bronchoscopy; manage capnography and non-invasive support
• Perform respiratory therapy treatments per physician orders and protocols
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds to impact length of stay and readmission rates

Schedule: Full Time

Variable schedule, every 2nd-3rd weekend, 630p-7a

Location: Carrollwood, FL

• Provides respiratory care to patients, including aerosolized medication, oxygen therapy, and ventilation.
• Draws, analyzes, and reports blood gas results. Responds to rapid response and code blue situations, performing CPR as needed.
• Manages ventilators, both invasive and non-invasive, and documents changes.
• Assists with bedside bronchoscopy and manages non-invasive Bi-level and end-tidal CO2 capnography.
• Performs respiratory therapy treatments and procedures per physician orders and department protocols.
• Participates in interdisciplinary rounds, providing input on patient care to impact length of stay and re-admission rates.
• Assists with clinical instruction, precepts, and serves as a resource for lower-level therapists.
• Reviews workload, makes staff assignments, and ensures completion of tasks when acting as shift lead.
• Follows regulatory requirements for the blood gas lab, including quality control and analyzer maintenance.
• Identifies and implements cost-control methods while maintaining patient care quality.
• Completes and documents ECGs and ensures all errors and inefficiencies are reported to management.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education:

• Technical/Vocational School [Required]

Field of Study:

• In respiratory therapy program prior to obtaining license or grandfathered in prior to licensure

Work Experience:

• 1+ years critical care experience [Required]
• 3+ years Respiratory Care experience [Required]

Licenses and Certifications:

• State Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) [Required]
• Active NBRC Credentialed Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) [Preferred]
• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) [Required]
