Job summary

AdventHealth in Tampa, FL is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide advanced respiratory care to critically ill patients, including ventilator management, blood gas analysis, and aerosolized therapies, within a night shift.

The position requires 1+ year of critical care experience and an active RRT license with NBRC credentials; benefits start day one, a sign-on bonus up to $20,000, relocation assistance, and a strong commitment to whole-person care.

Qualifications

• Requires Respiratory Therapist licensure (RRT) and NBRC credential (preferred).
• Technical/vocational training in respiratory care is required.
• Completed respiratory therapy program prior to licensure or grandfathered in.
• BLS and NRP certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Provides respiratory care to patients, including aerosolized meds, oxygen therapy and ventilation.
• Draws and analyzes blood gas results; responds to rapid responses and code blues; performs CPR as needed.
• Manages invasive and non-invasive ventilators; documents changes.
• Assists with bronchoscopy and manages BiPAP/CPAP and capnography.
• Performs respiratory therapy treatments per physician orders and protocols.
• Participates in interdisciplinary rounds to impact LOS and readmission rates.
• Assists with clinical instruction and serves as a resource for junior therapists.
• Reviews workload, assigns staff, and acts as shift lead when required.
• Adheres to blood gas lab regulatory requirements and quality control.

Job Description

Schedule: Full Time

Variable schedule, every 2nd-3rd weekend, 630p-7a

Location: Carrollwood, FL

Responsibilities

• Provides respiratory care to patients, including aerosolized medication, oxygen therapy, and ventilation.
• Draws, analyzes, and reports blood gas results. Responds to rapid response and code blue situations, performing CPR as needed.
• Manages ventilators, both invasive and non-invasive, and documents changes.
• Assists with bedside bronchoscopy and manages non-invasive Bi-level and end-tidal CO2 capnography.
• Performs respiratory therapy treatments and procedures per physician orders and department protocols.
• Participates in interdisciplinary rounds, providing input on patient care to impact length of stay and re-admission rates.
• Assists with clinical instruction, precepts, and serves as a resource for lower-level therapists.
• Reviews workload, makes staff assignments, and ensures completion of tasks when acting as shift lead.
• Follows regulatory requirements for the blood gas lab, including quality control and analyzer maintenance.
• Identifies and implements cost-control methods while maintaining patient care quality.
• Completes and documents ECGs and ensures all errors and inefficiencies are reported to management.
• Other duties as assigned.
