Job summary

AdventHealth in Tampa, Florida, is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide comprehensive respiratory care to patients, including oxygen therapy, ventilator management, and airway support. The role requires 3+ years of Respiratory Care experience and NBRC credential maintenance.

The position offers opportunities to participate in interdisciplinary rounds, contribute to patient outcomes, and mentor junior staff, with day shifts and a competitive pay range.

Qualifications

• 1+ years critical care experience required.
• 3+ years Respiratory Care experience required.
• NBRC credential must be maintained as a condition of continued eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Provides respiratory care to patients, including aerosolized medication, oxygen therapy, and ventilation.
• Draws, analyzes, and reports blood gas results; responds to rapid response and code blue situations, performing CPR as needed.
• Manages ventilators, both invasive and non-invasive, and documents changes.
• Assists with bedside bronchoscopy and manages non-invasive Bi-level and end-tidal CO2 capnography.
• Performs respiratory therapy treatments and procedures per physician orders and department protocols.
• Participates in interdisciplinary rounds, providing input on patient care to impact length of stay and readmission rates.
• Assists with clinical instruction, precepts, and serves as a resource for lower-level therapists.
• Reviews workload, makes staff assignments, and ensures completion of tasks when acting as shift lead.
• Follows regulatory requirements for the blood gas lab, including quality control and analyzer maintenance.
• Identifies and implements cost-control methods while maintaining patient care quality.
• Completes and documents ECGs and ensures all errors and inefficiencies are reported to management.
• Other duties as assigned.
