Job summary

SunState Medical Specialists (SMS) is seeking a Radiation Therapist to prepare equipment, position patients, and administer prescribed radiation doses. You will document care in the EMR, monitor equipment, and ensure ALARA safety standards are followed.

The role requires ARRT (T) certification, state licensure where required, CPR certification, excellent communication, and strong computer literacy for EMR and treatment software.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved School for Radiation Therapy.
• ARRT Registered Technologist (T).
• State licensed (mandatory where required).
• Must be in good standing with CE and license requirements.
• CPR certified.
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
• Computer literate, to include experience with the following: Record & Verify Applications, Treatment Delivery Applications, Electronic Medical Record, OWAN, DTS, MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Prepare or construct equipment, such as immobilization, treatment, or protection devices.
• Position patients for simulation and treatment with accuracy, according to prescription.
• Administer prescribed doses of radiation to specific body parts, using radiation therapy equipment according to established practices and standards.
• Properly document simulations, treatments and patient care activities in the EMR.
• Check radiation therapy and simulation equipment to ensure proper operation following QA procedures.
• Follow ALARA principles for patient, self and others.
• Observe and reassure patients during treatment and report unusual reactions to physician.
• Develop plan with Lead/Sr. Therapist to cross-train on equipment and technology.
