Job summary

Responsibilities

• Provide supervised education experiences for students that fulfill curriculum requirements (as applicable).
• Perform CT Simulation and verify treatment parameters daily.
• Verify physician prescriptions and treatment plans to ensure accurate treatment.
• Position patients consistently and reproducibly for therapy and simulation.
• Monitor patient reactions and respond to issues during treatment course.
• Maintain patient records and documentation in the EHR system.

• Provides supervised education experiences for students that fulfill the curriculum requirements of the academic institution.
• Participates in after-hours on-call coverage and maintains competency with after-hours treatment coverage.
• Assesses patients' needs and seeks to resolve any potential problems or conflicts.
• Performs morning quality checks on the treatment unit, assessing whether all equipment is operating according to physics policy and calling the appropriate person immediately after equipment malfunctions.
• Serves as a mentor by providing training and encouragement to junior radiation therapists.
• Treats patients in a timely and courteous manner, handling stressful situations appropriately and communicating effectively with patients of all ages.
• Observes patient reactions to treatment and assists in accommodating the patient through the treatment process.
• Verifies the physician’s prescription and treatment parameters daily to ensure accurate treatment of the patient in accordance with the prescription and treatment plan.
• Identifies the treatment volume and positions the patient in a consistent and reproducible manner.
• Performs all aspects of CT Simulation, including administering contrast agents during simulation localization under the direction of the physician or non-physician practitioner.
• Evaluates prescribed imaging and makes requested changes within 24 hours, accurately documenting treatment information in the patient electronic health record (EHR) and utilizing the record and verify system.
• Reviews all new starts for consistency prior to treatment, checking blocks, simulation documents, dose calculation sheets, prescriptions, field photos, and verifying patient positioning and field orientation.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:

• Associate's [Required]
• Bachelor’s [Preferred]

Field of Study:

• Completion of an accredited Radiation Therapy program [Required]

Work Experience:

• 1+ year of experience as a radiation therapist [Required]

Licenses and Certifications:
