Job summary

AdventHealth in Calhoun, GA is seeking a Radiation Therapist to join our treatment team. You will work in a full-time day shift, performing CT simulation, treatment setup, positioning patients, and verifying prescriptions to ensure accurate delivery under physician guidance.

Required: ARRT RT(T), BLS, completion of an accredited Radiation Therapy program, 1+ year experience; preferred EHR experience and CT simulation proficiency.

Qualifications

• Accredited Radiation Therapy program completion

Responsibilities

• Provide supervised education experiences for students as required by the clinical site.
• Participate in after-hours on-call coverage and maintain competency.
• Assess patient needs and resolve potential problems or conflicts.
• Perform morning quality checks on equipment and report malfunctions.
• Mentor junior radiation therapists with training and encouragement.
• Treat patients promptly and courteously, communicating with patients of all ages.
• Observe patient reactions and assist through the treatment process.
• Verify physician prescriptions and treatment parameters daily for accuracy.
• Identify treatment volume and position patients consistently and reproducibly.
• Perform CT Simulation and administer contrast during simulation localization as directed.
• Review new starts for consistency, check blocks, documents, dose sheets and field orientation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description:

• Provides supervised education experiences for students that fulfill the curriculum requirements of the academic institution.
• Participates in after-hours on-call coverage and maintains competency with after-hours treatment coverage.
• Assesses patients' needs and seeks to resolve any potential problems or conflicts.
• Performs morning quality checks on the treatment unit, assessing whether all equipment is operating according to physics policy and calling the appropriate person immediately after equipment malfunctions.
• Serves as a mentor by providing training and encouragement to junior radiation therapists.
• Treats patients in a timely and courteous manner, handling stressful situations appropriately and communicating effectively with patients of all ages.
• Observes patient reactions to treatment and assists in accommodating the patient through the treatment process.
• Verifies the physician’s prescription and treatment parameters daily to ensure accurate treatment of the patient in accordance with the prescription and treatment plan.
• Identifies the treatment volume and positions the patient in a consistent and reproducible manner.
• Performs all aspects of CT Simulation, including administering contrast agents during simulation localization under the direction of the physician or non-physician practitioner.
• Evaluates prescribed imaging and makes requested changes within 24 hours, accurately documenting treatment information in the patient electronic health record (EHR) and utilizing the record and verify system.
• Reviews all new starts for consistency prior to treatment, checking blocks, simulation documents, dose calculation sheets, prescriptions, field photos, and verifying patient positioning and field orientation.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
