Advanced Psychoeducational Specialist (Music Therapist) - Maryview Medical Center

Hours: Full-time 32 hrs per week

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Advanced Psychoeducation Specialist provides direct patient care under the guidance of a designated healthcare professional in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, and within policies, procedures, and guidelines of Bon Secours Mercy Health (BSMH). May provide clinical and administrative supervision.

Licensing/Certification

Must be licensed, certified, or registered as appropriate by state and national licensing boards in one of the following:

• Care Treatment and Rehabilitation Service (CTRS)
• Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC)
• Provisional Registered Art Therapist (ATR-P)
• Therapy Credentialed Supervisor (ATCS)
• Music Therapist-Board Certified (MT-BC)
• Board Certified Dance/Movement Therapist (BC-DMT)
• Occupational Therapist Licensed (OTR/L)

Education

Master's degree in Occupational Therapy, Recreational Therapy, Expressive Therapy (Music, Dance/Movement), Counseling, or Human Services (required).

Work Experience

At least 1 year of experience in healthcare, social, or human services setting (required).

Essential Job Functions

1. Facilitates groups and provides individual activities tailored to patient needs. Participates in family and treatment team meetings.
2. Discharge planning in collaboration with the Social Worker team.
3. Coordinates community resources, especially for specialized activities like pet therapy, nutrition, yoga.
4. Completes leisure assessments and care planning.
5. May provide one-on-one patient safety companion services and short patient checks as needed.
6. Assists with onboarding new or entry-level Psychoeducational Specialists.
7. Handles more complex tasks or projects as needed.
8. Completes required departmental training.
