Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems seeks a Systems Engineering Manager 3 to support Advanced Programs. The role can be located in Huntsville, AL or Roy, UT and may include relocation assistance.

Qualifications

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Systems Engineering Manager 3 to support Advanced Programs. This position can be located in Huntsville, AL or Roy, UT. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package. This role is contingent upon contract award.

What You’ll Get To Do:
  • Coordinate with engineering, logistics, and test teams to define calibration, maintenance, and sustainment requirements for fielded systems and equipment.
  • Oversee preparation, review, and approval of technical handbooks and maintenance documentation for adequacy and compliance with DoD standards.
  • Manage proposal and acquisition support activities, including cost estimating, schedule baselines, and risk assessments.
  • Provide objective-oriented direction to subordinate staff, assigning tasks, reviewing deliverables, and ensuring technical adequacy.
  • Conduct and supervise maintainability demonstrations and field-support assessments, integrating customer feedback into improvement actions.
  • Develop and implement logistics support strategies, including tool and test equipment provisioning, calibration, and sustainment planning.
  • Serve as primary liaison with internal stakeholders and external customers, delivering logistics briefings and participating in technical meetings.
  • Monitor program performance metrics, identify schedule or cost variances, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Interpret and recommend updates to department policies and operating procedures affecting logistics and sustainment functions.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and a minimum 8 years of related experience or Master's degree with 6 years of related experience - Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret Clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance.
  • 10+ years of experience in strategic planning for defense acquisition programs, preferably missile or aerospace systems.
  • Direct experience with the Technology Maturation and Risk Reduction (TMRR) phase of a major defense program.
  • Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional teams and overseeing risk-reduction activities in major capability acquisition phases.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement logistics and sustainment strategies that meet lifecycle cost and performance goals.
  • Familiarity with DoD acquisition policies, logistics, life‑cycle management processes, and related regulatory guidance (MIL-STD-1388, MIL-HDBK-502, or TA-STD-0017).

Primary Level Salary Range: $166,700.00 - $276,500.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
