Northrop Grumman’s Defense Systems sector is looking for a Manager 3, Design Engineering for MMIII CDR Execution. This leadership role is located in Roy, Utah and is within the Command Systems Business Unit. This is a leadership position with executive interactions internally and externally, and the successful candidate must display consistent impeccable judgment and embody Northrop Grumman Value and Leadership behaviors. What You Will Get To Do: Drive hardware engineering execution as a leader across the SDS Division portfolio of programs while reporting into the Command Systems Business Unit (BU) organization. Direct the implementation of integrated hardware engineering process across the CS Organization, driving consistency and implementation across program/product teams at all national locations and multiple subcontractor locations. Drive a culture of empowerment and accountability that enables the team to efficiently execute to achieve results on time Lead the planning and execution of the MMIII SLC subsystem Critical Design Review (CDR) for CS Hardware, including ownership of the integrated CDR schedule, entrance/exit criteria, and closure of all CDR actions. Coordinate the preparation, integration, and quality of all CDR technical artifacts (requirements, design documentation, drawings, analyses, ICDs, test plans, and verification/validation plans) to ensure a coherent and defensible technical baseline. Integrate inputs from geographically dispersed IPTs and suppliers to produce a unified CDR package that reflects consistent hardware architecture, interfaces, and manufacturing plans across Command Systems and the broader Sentinel enterprise. Own CDR related risk and opportunity management, ensuring design, manufacturing readiness, nuclear surety, and supplier risks have credible mitigation plans and are clearly communicated to program and customer leadership. Provide proactive management of earned value metrics associated with subsystem design, development and integration Ensure Hardware Engineering product quality and consistency and manage auditing and oversight functions, including metrics development and management. Implement architectural scope for the CS Hardware including: Work across product teams and the Command Systems BU to ensure that hardware design is consistent, holistic, robust, and maintainable across the BU. Programmatic and technical execution, oversight & management for Command Systems MMIII SLC Subsystems in the Command Systems BU Successfully deliver Command Systems MMIII SLC hardware designs and implementations in support of the Sentinel CS BU. Specifics include custom hardware, integration onto the hardware platforms, and design integration of hardware assemblies and subsystems Ensure successful integration of supplier hardware solutions to the overall MMIII SLC Subsystems Provide technical leadership and mentoring to all levels of engineering staff Support BU allocation and coordination of hardware engineering resources across various efforts Ensure clear lines of communication with the customer regarding technical and programmatic topics of interest
Additional responsibilities may include: Horizontally integrate across Design Engineering directorate as well as members of the Engineering and Manufacturing Operations organization to ensure consistency of design engineering approach. This will help identify areas of opportunity to support upcoming challenges that are not currently being elevated. Provide independent reviews of portfolio hardware, hardware and deliverables, focused deep dives in program and product teams, as well as driving compliance to processes and procedures. Identify opportunities for and support of engagement activities across all programs. Identify and mentor high potential technical leaders.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 8 years of experience; or Master's degree with 6 years of experience. Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need 3+ years experience developing requirements and designing qualification testing 3+ years experience with EVMS on hardware development programs ICBM or complex aerospace systems experience
Primary Level Salary Range: $166,700.00 - $250,100.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
