APD’s focus is the design, integration, testing, and support of advanced technologies for new and derivative engine concepts. Technology areas include turbomachinery systems, military inlet & exhaust systems, integrated propulsion power & thermal management systems, advanced material systems, advanced control systems, and other breakthrough component and system technologies to support the future of military flight.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Lead systems design and integration of the F110-F4B2 turbomachinery (disks, shafts, frames, cases, ducts, airfoils) for the NGP3 New Product Introduction (NPI) program.
  • Work with the F110 turbomachinery design organization to keep system requirements, interfaces, and design intent consistent across components.
  • Work with analysis teams, including aeromechanics, stress, and thermal, and turn their results into system-level design decisions.
  • Share turbomachinery systems responsibility with a peer focal, splitting ownership between the hot and cold sections and integrating across the whole engine.
