Job summary

University Health Partners of Hawaii is seeking an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) specializing in Substance Use Disorder to work in an on-call, 100% remote role in Hawaii. The APRN will assess, diagnose, treat, and manage care for individuals with addiction, prescribe medications, and provide counseling and therapy within addiction medicine.

This call-in position offers a Monday–Friday schedule with hours 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, base pay determined by hours worked, and Hawaii residency

Qualifications

• MSN with focus on substance abuse or PMH nursing.
• Current Hawaii APRN-Rx license (unencumbered).
• Clinical experience in addiction medicine or psychiatric-mental health nursing.
• Board certification preferred (CARN-AP) or active by start date if selected.

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY

The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) specializing in Substance Use Disorder (SUD) within addiction medicine focuses on providing comprehensive care to individuals struggling with substance use and addiction. The APRN assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients, develops individualized treatment plans, prescribes medications, and offers counseling and therapy.

Location: 100% Remote

This is a call in position, Monday to Friday, between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Pay is based on hours worked.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education/Training/Experience

Minimum:

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a focus on substance abuse or psychiatric-mental health nursing.
• Current, unencumbered APRN-Rx license in the state of Hawaii.
• Clinical experience in addiction medicine or psychiatric-mental health nursing.

Preferred:

• Current Board Certification as a Certified Addiction Registered Nurse — Advanced Practice (CARN-AP), or other nationally recognized board certification center; OR have obtained active Board Certification by the start date if selected.

Minimum:

• Strong knowledge of addiction medicine, including pharmacology, withdrawal management, and evidence-based treatment modalities.
• Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
• Ability to connect with and support individuals struggling with addiction.
• Ability to assess complex situations, develop appropriate treatment plans, and adapt to changing patient needs.
