Job summary

St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, WV seeks a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the CVT-Critical Care team. The role focuses on delivering high-quality, cost-effective critical care with physician rounds and interdisciplinary collaboration.

The candidate should have completed an approved NP/PA program, hold WV licensure, be board-certified (NP-BC or PA-C), ACLS certified, and possess prescriptive privileges per WV code. ICU experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved NP/PA program.
• Current West Virginia NP/PA licensure.
• Board certification NP-BC or PA-C.
• ACLS certification.
• Prescriptive privileges as per WV code.
• Two years' experience as NP/PA; ICU experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Daily hospital rounds with physician.
• Dictates patient’s admission history and physical.
• Orders labs, x-rays and other diagnostics with physician.
• Prescribes medications and treatment plans.
• Performs minor bedside procedures.
• Communicates patient status to attending physician.
• Initiates evaluation and emergency management for emergencies.
• Prepares discharge summaries and transfer notes.

St. Mary’s Medical Center is seeking afull-timeNurse Practitioner/Physician assistant in the CVT- Critical Care. The individual in the role will promote excellence in patient care by advancing the quality, efficient, and cost-effective care.

• Daily hospital rounds with physician.
• Dictates patient’s admission history and physical.
• Orders appropriate laboratory tests, x-rays and other diagnostic test as deemed necessary by the patient’s condition in collaboration with the physician.
• Prescribes appropriate medications to manage the patient’s diagnosis.
• Prescribes treatment plans including appropriate diet, rest, activities, etc.
• Performs minor bedside procedures.
• Communicates information regarding patient status and needs to the attending physician.
• Initiate appropriate evaluation and emergency management treatment for emergency situations.
• Prepares and dictates patient’s discharge summary and/or the transfer of care notes

EDUCATION: Graduate of an approved Nurse Practitioner/Physician’s Assistant program

Licensure: Current licensure in the State of West Virginia Board Certification as Nurse

Practitioner NP-BC/National

Certification in Physician Assistant (PANCE)PA-C

Certification: ACLS

Prescriptive Privileges: Comply with West Virginia Code related to attaining and maintaining limited prescriptive privileges.

EXPERIENCE:

Two (2) years experience preferred as Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.

Two (2) years as a Critical Care RN or Nurse Practitioner preferred.
