Explore an exciting opportunity with AHWFB Hospital Medicine Department as we eagerly welcome a skilled Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our dynamic virtual team in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Please note candidates must live in the state of NC or VA.

What You'll Do:

The Virtual hospitalist APP will be a part of the Section of Hospital Medicine. This APP will be responsible for patient care through the AHWFB Virtual Hospital Program. This program provides care to patients admitted to "brick and mortar" hospitals in AH-Wake market. As a valued member of our healthcare team, the PA/NP will play a key role in team-focused patient care, conducting thorough virtual cross cover.

Responsibilities include:
  1. 100% inpatient adult medicine remote (work from home) cross coverage
  2. 7 days on and 7 days off rotation; 12 hour shifts
  3. Using medical decision-making skills to determine appropriate patient care plan.
  4. Collaborates with medical team when needed for effective team-based care.
  5. Order and interpret laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures.
  6. Opportunity to participate in basic science and clinical research projects
  7. Uphold AHWFB missions, values, and cultural commitment.
  8. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

*Experience in hospital medicine required*

The clinician functions under the regulatory mandate from their respective licensing organization (North Carolina Medical Board or North Carolina Board of Nursing) with departmental specific credentialing from the institution.

Physician Assistant (PA) Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program; Master's Degree preferred
  • Current North Carolina Medical Board Medical License, Certified by NCCPA
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a hospitalist is preferred. 1-year experience as a hospitalist and 2 years of experience as an outpatient provider will be considered.
  • DEA license is required.

Nurse Practitioner (NP) Requirements:
  • Graduation from accredited Nurse Practitioner Master's Program, Master's degree or higher required
  • Current North Carolina Board of Nursing Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner license
  • Board certified as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner by AANP or ANCC
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a hospitalist is preferred. 1-year experience as a hospitalist and 2 years of experience as an outpatient provider will be considered.
  • DEA license is required.
