Barnes-Jewish Hospital, part of BJC HealthCare in St. Louis, seeks a Nurse Practitioner in Vascular Surgery to join a highly specialized team.

You will provide advanced clinical and surgical care alongside vascular surgeons, residents, and multidisciplinary teams in an academic medical center. Minimum qualifications include AGNP/ANP/FNP with Missouri APRN licensure and national board certification; preferred AGACNP/ACNP and 2–5 years of experience.

• Master's degree in Nursing required.
• Licensed APRN in Missouri required.
• National APRN Board Certification required.
• Preferred: Doctorate in Nursing or related field.
• Preferred Board Certification: AGACNP or ACNP.
• Preferred experience: 2–5 years in vascular or acute care settings.

Responsibilities

• Provides compassionate, patient- and family-centered care for health recovery, illness prevention, and management of acute or chronic conditions in an inpatient vascular surgery setting.
• Collaborates with vascular surgeons, residents, fellows, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care and ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Demonstrates accountability for professional practice through ongoing development, quality initiatives, and adherence to standards of care.
• Maintains safety and keeps a high level of alertness as required by this safety-sensitive role.

Position Details

• Dedicated Vascular Surgery Advanced Practice Provider role
• 3-12’s per week (0530 start time), limited weekend coverage
• Comprehensive onboarding and training program designed to support success withing the Vascular Surgery procedures
• Collaborative practice environment with vascular surgeons, residents, fellows, and multidisciplinary care teams
• Strongly Preferred: Vascular Surgery experience
• Preferred: Experience in a high-acuity Surgical ICU setting

Role Purpose

The nurse practitioner functions within their scope of practice as a healthcare provider, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team to provide comprehensive care to patients and families across practice settings. They demonstrate a high degree of clinical expertise in working with patients with acute and chronic illnesses commonly encountered within the inpatient setting. The nurse practitioner demonstrates an advanced level of clinical knowledge, communication, interdisciplinary collaboration, professionalism, and systems-based practice. They work with administration staff, nurses, physicians, medical/surgical trainees, and other staff to assure safe, effective, quality patient care.Minimum Board Certification(s):BJH: Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP), Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP), or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP- with appropriate experience)Preferred Board Certification(s): BJH: Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP)

Responsibilities

• Provides compassionate, appropriate, and effective patient and family-centered care for health recovery, illness prevention, treatment of critically ill, or end-of-life care.
• Responsible for assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, education, health promotion, and care coordination for patients and families with acute and chronic health needs in an academic inpatient setting.
• Communicates and collaborates effectively with patients, families, physicians, medical/surgical trainees, and other health professionals.
• Demonstrates the highest level of accountability for professional practice by participating in professional development, quality initiative/performance activities, and implementing standards of care within area of specialization.
• BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
