Job summary

UMC Gastroenterology is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our healthcare team. You will work autonomously with physicians to evaluate, diagnose, and manage patient conditions, prescribe medications, and participate in improving access and outcomes.

The role requires an NP/PA license and Texas licensure or eligibility, a BSN/MSN and accredited PA/NP training, and Basic Life Support certification.

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner license.
• Active Texas Medical Board or Texas Board of Nursing standing.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient-centered care with autonomy in evaluating, diagnosing and managing conditions.
• Prescribe medications and order/interpret tests; document histories and exams.
• Collaborate with physicians and participate in quality improvement activities.
• Work 40 hours/week with hours 8AM–5PM Mon–Thu and 8AM–12PM Fri.

Hours may vary to accommodate needs in the department. Exposure of blood-borne pathogens is of high risk. Physical Requirements: Work is of medium demand. Standing, walking most of the time on duty. Lifting and pushing patients, carts, and wheelchairs. Adequate hand/eye coordination and fine motor skills required. Good tactile sensation is necessary for checking patients. Talking and hearing is essential in instructing and supervising nursing personnel and in receiving doctors’ orders and patient’s condition reports. Near visual acuity for accurate recording of patients’ charts.
