JOB SUMMARY
The Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center at UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our oncology team in a PRN capacity.
This position provides coverage across Solid Tumor Oncology, Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT), and may include future opportunities to support Neuro-Oncology services. The APP will serve as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality, patient-centered oncology care across a variety of disease sites and practice settings.
The APP will independently assess, diagnose, and manage oncology patients, collaborate closely with physicians and multidisciplinary care teams, review laboratory and diagnostic results, coordinate treatment plans, provide patient and family education, and support continuity of care throughout the patient journey. Responsibilities may include both outpatient and inpatient coverage depending on departmental needs.
This role is ideal for an experienced oncology APP seeking a flexible schedule while remaining engaged in a dynamic academic medical center environment.
Schedule: PRN position providing 12-hour shift coverage on an as-needed basis, including weekdays, weekends, holidays, and other staffing needs as determined by the department.

Minimum of one (1) year of oncology experience as an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) required.
Education
Graduate of a master’s degree or higher Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician (ARC-PA) accredited Physician Assistant program. OR
Master’s degree or higher in nursing, documentation of completion of accredited Advanced Practice Education Program. Graduate education and related Texas Board of Nursing authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population.
Licensure and Certification
Certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) Certification required. Licensed by the Texas Physician Assistant Board.OR
Licensure as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by Texas State Board of Nursing. Authorization for prescriptive authority by the Texas Board of Nursing.
For Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) training or experience is preferred. Candidates with prior First Assist experience in the operating room, endocrine surgery experience, or a surgical background applicable to endocrine surgery are strongly preferred.
Current applicable Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) American Heart Association or American Red Cross Life Support certification(s) based on UT Southwestern policy for Advanced Practice Providers.
