Job summary

Saint Luke's Health System in Kansas City, MO is seeking a PRN Hospitalist Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to manage hospitalized patients during 12-hour night shifts. The APP will work within Saint Luke’s Plaza and other locations, providing autonomous inpatient care in collaboration with physicians and the interdisciplinary team.

The role requires a Master’s degree, MO/KS state board readiness, and current national certification/licensure.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher and MO/KS state board requirements.
  • Maintain national certification and state licensure as required by Saint Luke’s.
  • 1 year APP experience in MO preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Complete admissions, consultations, and respond to inpatients.
  • Provide independent inpatient practice in collaboration with physicians.
  • Order and manage labs and imaging as appropriate.
  • Respond to department pager and coordinate care with team.

Job DescriptionThe APP will be responsible for the medical management of the hospitalized patient population within the scope of an Advanced Practice Provider. The term Advanced Practice Provider encompasses Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and Clinical Nurse Specialists. The employee will have successfully completed a Master’s degree (or higher level of educational program) and have met the requirements for the respective State Board(s) (Missouri and Kansas). The APP will hold and maintain a national certification and licensure as required by State Boards and Saint Luke’s Health System, as well as other certification as obligatory for this role.The PRN Hospitalist APP works 12 hours shifts overnight at the Saint Luke's Plaza and Saint Luke's locations. Weekend and holiday requirements with this role.This position is accountable for advanced clinical practice in the care of patients with general medical conditions, requiring acute inpatient treatment. Responsibilities include obtaining and analyzing patient histories, performing comprehensive assessments, developing and implementing treatment plans, coordinating care, and collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.Skills required of this role will include but may not be limited to the following:utilizes prescriptive authority in accordance with state and federal laws and regulationsobtains and documents relevant problem focused or comprehensive history from patient/medical records in a timely mannercommunicates effectively using appropriate terminology, format, and technology in accordance health system policiesanalyzes data to determine health statuscommunicates effectively with other healthcare professionalsperforms an accurate physical examdemonstrates basic science and up to date clinical knowledgeestablishes a patient relationship characterized by mutual respect, empathy, and collaborationtakes initiative for seeking opportunities to advance knowledge and experiencesflexibility with scheduled rotations/locations as needed to ensure patient needs are metRole duties may include but are not limited to:Completion of admissions, consultations, and responding to emergent situations in the inpatient setting.Independent practice in the inpatient setting and collaborating with physician(s) as appropriate.Ordering and management of appropriate laboratory and diagnostic studies.Responding to department pager for a period of time in accordance with department expectationsJob RequirementsApplicable Experience:1 yearAdvanced Practice Provider (MO) - Various, Basic Life Support - American Heart Association or Red CrossMaster's DegreeJob DetailsPRNNight (United States of America)
