Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX, seeks an Advanced Practice Provider to join the Pediatric Interventional Radiology team. You will work across inpatient and outpatient settings, supporting image-guided procedures and coordinating patient care with a multidisciplinary team.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year IR experience, graduation from ARC-PA accredited PA program or MSN with Texas nursing licensure, BLS and PALS certification, and Texas prescriptive authority.

JOB SUMMARY

Children's Health and UT Southwestern Medical Center are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our growing Pediatric Interventional Radiology team.

This role offers a unique opportunity to provide care across both the inpatient and outpatient settings while working alongside a highly specialized multidisciplinary team. The APP will support pediatric patients undergoing image-guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and serve as a key clinical resource throughout the patient care journey.

Responsibilities include conducting comprehensive patient assessments, coordinating care plans, obtaining histories and physicals, ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies, providing patient and family education, performing specialty-specific procedures based on training and privileging, and collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, technologists, and ancillary care teams.

This position is ideal for providers who enjoy a procedural environment, possess strong critical thinking skills, thrive in a dynamic and evolving practice, and are passionate about delivering exceptional pediatric care. Veteran's encouraged to apply.

Schedule: Primarily Monday through Friday. No routine weekends, holidays, or call requirements at this time. The APP will primarily support the Pediatric Interventional Radiology program at Children's Medical Center Plano while collaborating across Children's Health locations as patient care and business needs evolve. Initial onboarding and training may occur at multiple Children’s Health and UT Southwestern locations.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Experience

A minimum of one (1) year of Interventional Radiology experience is highly preferred, either as an Advanced Practice Provider or as a Registered Nurse practicing within an Interventional Radiology setting. Experience in pediatric Interventional Radiology, surgery, critical care, acute care, or other procedural specialties is also valued.

Education

Graduate of a master's degree or higher Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) accredited Physician Assistant program.

OR

Master's degree or higher in nursing, documentation of completion of an accredited Advanced Practice Education Program. Graduate education and related Texas Board of Nursing authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population.

Licensure and Certification

Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) required. Licensed by the Texas Physician Assistant Board.

OR

Licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by the Texas State Board of Nursing. Authorization for prescriptive authority by the Texas Board of Nursing.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross based on UT Southwestern policy for Advanced Practice Providers.

JOB DUTIES

  • Conducts and documents comprehensive initial and ongoing physical examinations based on age and diagnosis, including psychological status.
  • Synthesizes data and utilizes evidence to develop, implement, and evaluate the patient plan of care, including ordering and interpreting laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic studies/results.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in technical and procedural skills as appropriate based on specialty and training.
  • Provides relevant management, referrals, counseling, and education to patients, families, and caregivers related to current care and preventive health measures.
  • Coordinates care across a multidisciplinary team to support optimal patient outcomes.
  • Facilitates and participates in quality-related initiatives and evidence-based practice activities.
  • Collaborates in clinical research activities and quality improvement efforts as appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
