Job summary

SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois, is seeking a Critical Care Advanced Practitioner (PA) to join our nocturnist team in a brand-new, state-of-the-art CCU.

The role focuses on admissions, consults, and post-op care for critically ill patients, with typically two admissions per night, and procedural support such as central/arterial lines and intubation; training is provided with a collaborating physician.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a nationally accredited PA program.
• Practice experience after graduation is required.
• Ability to obtain IL PA licensure.
• Team player and collaborative in a fast-paced ICU.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality care to CCU patients, including admissions and consults.
• Care for post-op surgical patients.
• Night shift coverage: 7 p.m.–7 a.m., 7 on/7 off.
• Perform central/arterial lines and intubation as needed (training available).

Opportunity

Nocturnist position working 7 p.m. - 7 a.m. on a 7 on/7 off schedule (Tuesday to Tuesday) providing coverage in a 16-bed CCU.

The primary focus of this position will be assisting in providing high-quality care to critical care patients, including patient admissions and consults, as well as seeing post-op surgical patients.

On average, two patient admissions per night.

Procedural experience in performing central and arterial lines as well as intubation is highly desired; willing to train the right candidate.

On-the-job training paired with a collaborating physician for support.
