Job description

Responsibilities

Franciscan Medical Group is seeking an experienced ARNP or Physician Assistant for a full-time orthopedic surgery opportunity. Our new provider will join a collegial team of board-certified orthopedic surgeons and Advanced Practice Providers.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  1. Assists in the surgical suite, including first assist, wound closure, application of internal devices, and other procedures delegated by the supervising orthopedic surgeon.
  2. Performs pre-operative and post-operative care in clinics.
  3. Conducts comprehensive and problem-focused histories and physical examinations.
  4. Interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests in clinics.
  5. Formulates treatment plans for orthopedic conditions within their scope of practice.
  6. Exercises judgment on conditions requiring consultation, referral, or evaluation by the supervising orthopedic surgeon or other healthcare professionals.
  7. Orders, collects, and performs appropriate laboratory and diagnostic studies, such as routine tests, EMG, EKG, and radiologic examinations including arthrogram, ultrasound, CT, MRI, and bone scans.
  8. Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as aspirations and injections of joints, bursae, and cysts.
  9. Applies braces, casts, splints, and other orthopedic appliances.
  10. Conducts hospital rounds, writes orders, takes call, and sees patients in the ED for the orthopedic surgeon if needed.

Average schedule is Monday through Friday, including OR (surgery), clinic, and hospital work.

Qualifications
  • One-year experience required as a practicing ARNP or Physician Assistant.
  • Surgical experience as an APP is preferred.
  • Washington State license in good standing.
  • Board certification.
  • DEA, NPI, and prescriptive authority.
  • Current BLS certification for Healthcare Providers by the American Heart Association.
