Job summary

The Ohio State University is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) for the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) on a rotating schedule at East Hospital in Columbus, OH. You will work closely with surgeons, intensivists, and the critical care team to manage high-acuity surgical patients.

The role requires current Ohio APRN authority or NCCPA-certified PA-C with eligibility for Ohio licensure, a Master's degree, and up to 2 years of critical care experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Current certificate of authority to practice as an APRN in Ohio.
• Graduate of an NP program eligible to sit for national certification recognized by Ohio Board of Nursing.
• Master of Science in Nursing.
• 0 years of relevant experience required; 0-2 years critical care preferred.
• ACNP or PA-C path with NCCPA eligibility also acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality care to critically ill adult SICU patients in collaboration with surgeons and intensivists.
• Perform advanced clinical assessments, manage critical illness, and coordinate perioperative/postoperative care.
• Educate patients and families and participate in multidisciplinary rounds.

Collaborates with a physician(s) and other clinicians in providing a full scope of patient care. The focus is on preventive health or the management of acute and/or stable chronic conditions. Performs medical services that have been specifically authorized and directed by the credentialing body and the certifying organization through which they hold licensure.**Position Summary**The APP provides health care services to patients working in collaboration with a licensed physician member of the medical staff. Working collaboratively with surgeons, intensivists, and multidisciplinary teams, the APP manages complex postoperative and medically fragile patients across a wide range of surgical specialties, including trauma, acute care surgery, transplant, vascular, and general surgery.
