Job description

Interventional Pulmonology Advanced Practice Provider

The Interventional Pulmonology (IP) Advanced Practice Provider will collaborate with IP physicians to manage lung nodules, lung masses, lymphadenopathy, complex airway disease, pleural effusions, and emphysema. The role initially involves outpatient responsibilities, with potential inpatient care as the UVA IP program expands. Our team operates within a multidisciplinary environment including general pulmonary, thoracic surgery, medical oncology, and radiation oncology.

Schedule

M-F, days; no nights, weekends, holidays, or on-call duties.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage new and follow-up lower risk lung nodule patients.
  2. Follow up with IP patients and urgent clinic cases.
  3. Lead the BLVR program, including reviewing referrals, coordinating studies, and patient consultations.
  4. Assist nursing staff with referral triage and respond to patient communications.
  5. Educate patients about procedures and participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards.
  6. Ensure referrals are completed and participate in research and professional organizations.
Qualifications
  • Acute Care Certification preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited graduate nursing or physician assistant program with a master's degree.
  • Virginia licensure or eligibility as an Advanced Practice Provider.
  • Current BLS certification; PALS/NRP and ACLS as required.
Additional Responsibilities

Perform assessments, diagnostics, procedures within scope, order treatments, and provide patient education. Participate in on-call duties, quality assurance, committee work, and educational activities. Maintain compliance with policies and continue professional development.

Physical Demands

Prolonged standing, bending, reaching, repetitive motions, and lifting 50-100 lbs. May be exposed to various hazards including infectious materials.
