Job description

UVA Health Medical Center seeks a highly motivated Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our inpatient colorectal surgery team. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about surgical patient care, collaborating closely with colorectal surgeons and residents to manage a diverse patient population.

Responsibilities include:

1. Providing direct inpatient ward care for colorectal surgery patients, including readmissions with postoperative complications and non-operative treatments.
2. Having prior inpatient surgical APP experience; colorectal or general surgery experience is preferred.
3. Possessing additional skills such as wound care, ostomy management, or relevant certifications, and proficiency in EPIC EHR.
4. Serving as a central figure in maintaining high-quality patient care, service standards, and interdisciplinary communication.

Additional duties:

• Collaborating with the medical director, nursing, and other team members for patient management.
• Conducting assessments, diagnoses, and initiating medical procedures within credentialed scope.
• Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, managing medications, and referring to specialists as needed.
• Providing patient education and participating in on-call duties.
• Adhering to policies, participating in clinical education, and maintaining professional development.

Minimum requirements:

• Master's degree from an accredited graduate program in nursing or physician assistant studies.
• Virginia licensure or eligibility, with current BLS and other position-specific certifications.
• Ability to perform physical tasks and work in a healthcare environment with potential exposure to infectious materials.

Position compensation range: $93,142.40 - $149,032.00 annually.
