Job summary

Acclaim Health in Fort Worth, Texas, is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider in Neurosurgery to join John Peter Smith Hospital. You will work with physicians and an interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a large public facility.

The role requires completing histories and physicals, developing treatment plans, ordering tests, and coordinating admissions and referrals while maintaining confidentiality and adherence to clinical standards.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in nursing (AGACNP) or PA program graduate.
  • 2 years of neurosurgery APP experience preferred.
  • PA licensure and AGACNP certification with RNFA.
  • BLS certification and DEA license.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive clinical and leadership direction with physicians and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Perform history and physicals, document findings, order and interpret labs.
  • Develop and evaluate treatment plans; initiate specialty consultations.
  • Collaborate on patient admissions, transfers, and clinical pathways.
  • Identify acute/emergent situations and initiate life-saving interventions.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality and adhere to clinical standards.

Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Must be comfortable working in a large public/county facility.

  • Must have good interpersonal, verbal, and oral communication skills.
  • Must be self-directed and take the initiative to develop and participate in community activities and medical outreach.
  • Must be able to demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behavior.
  • Independently and in collaboration with physician(s) and interdisciplinary team members, provides comprehensive clinical and organizational direction and leadership to the healthcare provider team in the care of patients.
  • Performs comprehensive history and physical assessment.
  • Documents findings and noting pertinent normal and abnormal findings.
  • Orders and interprets the appropriate diagnostic labs and tests.
  • Forms medical diagnoses based on history, assessment, and diagnostic findings.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates treatment plans.
  • Prescribes and recommends pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions.
  • Initiates appropriate specialty consultations referrals when requisite.
  • Initiates and evaluates clinical pathways and protocols.
  • Collaborate with Attendings and/or Fellows regarding admissions and community transfers.
  • Facilitates the timely flow of patients via collaboration with interdisciplinary team members and supports all interdisciplinary relationships.
  • Recognizes acute/emergent situations requiring immediate responsiveness and initiates life-saving interventions, alerting the interdisciplinary team members for assistance.
  • Recognizes and incorporates age-specific requirements, communicates plan of care with patients and families.
  • Advocates for patients and family members in educational needs, treatment options, participation in care and ethical issues and patient rights with recognition and consideration of the diverse needs of the individual/family
  • Provides consultation in specialty areas.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information
  • Coordinates meeting applicable clinical standards for all disciplines in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members.
  • Anticipated effects of procedure(s) to patients, patient families, staff, and students.
  • Performs designated procedures after demonstrated competency.
Qualifications
  • Education: o Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing (AGACNP) OR Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program (PA)
  • Experience: o 2 years of experience working as an Advanced Practice Provider in Neurosurgery preferred.
  • Licensure: o Physician Assistant (PA)
  • Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) with a Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • DEA license required.
  • Skills: Must be comfortable working in a large public/county facility
