Job summary

Holy Cross Health in Fort Lauderdale, FL seeks an experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our outpatient neurology team. The role emphasizes comprehensive neurological care under physician supervision, focusing on patient-centered services.

Responsibilities include assessments, chronic neuro conditions management, referrals triage, education, and coordination with a multidisciplinary team, with a commitment to evidence-based practice and high standards of care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
• APR/NPA certification or PA board certification.
• Licensed as PA or APRN in Florida.
• At least 2 years in general neurology or related field.
• CPR/BLS and ACLS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive neurological assessments including history and exams.
• Manage chronic neurological conditions (dementia, headaches, movement disorders).
• Evaluate and triage new referrals and follow-ups.
• Order and interpret labs and imaging as needed.
• Develop evidence-based plans with supervising physicians.
• Educate patients on disease prevention and medications.
• Coordinate care with other providers and specialties.
• Document encounters accurately in the EMR.
• Ensure compliance with policies and regulatory guidelines.

Our service line also includes Neuro Critical Care, Interventional Spine and Pain, and an Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit. We are a Joint Commission certified Thrombectomy-capable stroke center.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive Neurological assessments including history, physical examinations, and interpretation of diagnostic studies.
• Manage chronic conditions such as dementia, headaches disorders, movement disorders, radiculopathy, and peripheral nerve disease.
• Evaluate and triage new patient referrals and follow-up visits.
• Order and interpret laboratory studies, diagnostic testing
• Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans with collaborating physicians
• Provide patient education on disease prevention, lifestyle modifications, and medication management
• Participate in care coordination with other providers and specialties.
• Document all patient encounters thoroughly and accurately in the Electronic Medical Record
• Maintain compliance with organizational policies, regulatory guidelines, and best practice standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Program
• National Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Certification (APRN) OR national board certification as a Physician Assistant.
• Current Physician Assistant or APRN license in the State of Florida.
• 2+ years of general Neurology or related experience required
• BLS/ACLS
