An established industry player is seeking an APP Moonlighter to provide essential evening and weekend coverage for its Neurosurgery Service line. This role involves maintaining patient care for both existing and newly admitted patients, assisting in surgical procedures, and coordinating with the first call attending. The APP Moonlighter is primarily responsible for providing evening and weekend coverage for the Neurosurgery Service line at Regions Hospital. Regions Hospital is a Level 1 Trauma Center and requires 24/7 coverage for Neurosurgery. This position will be responsible for maintaining coverage for existing patients and newly transported or admitted patients needing medical attention from Neurosurgery. This position will be responsible for rounding on the patients in the hospital. This position will work in conjunction with the first call attending to coordinate patient care within the hospital. The APP Moonlighter will handle first call duties on nights and weekends. Additionally, when needed, this position will assist in the operating room and on nursing units, helping with patient positioning, room setup, and surgical procedures involving the cranium, cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. The APP will also integrate advanced technology into intra-operative procedures as directed by neurosurgeons. Responsibilities include managing consults from the emergency department, ICU, and other hospital floors. The APP must be available by pager during scheduled first call shifts and have access to electronic medical records, imaging, and email from home.
On inpatient nursing units and outpatient clinics, this position will coordinate patient care and assist in post-operative nursing care, including patient assessment, medication and treatment orders, and tasks such as removing tubes/lines and dictating discharge summaries. Other duties may be assigned.
