Job summary

NorthShore University HealthSystem seeks an Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for inpatient care at Swedish Hospital and Evanston Hospital. The role is full-time with day schedule and occasional evenings, plus on-call weekends.

Responsibilities include direct inpatient care, evaluation, medication management, and discharge planning. Illinois APRN/PA licensure, DEA Schedule III, and MAT eligibility are required or forthcoming.

Qualifications

• 3+ years inpatient clinical experience preferred.
• Inpatient caseload of 8+ patients per day expected.
• Current Illinois APRN or PA licensure or pending, DEA Schedule III.
• Eligible to prescribe buprenorphine for opioid use disorder.
• Experience in psychiatry, addiction medicine or MAT preferred.
• Strong clinical judgment and adherence to evidence-based care.

Responsibilities

• Primary inpatient role as the main clinician for admissions.
• Perform chart reviews, initial evaluations and med management.
• Collaborate with physicians on complex cases regularly.
• Provide routine patient updates to unit staff during staffing.
• Lead family meetings and oversee discharge planning.

Hourly Pay Range:

$61.54 - $81.73 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:

Position: Advance Practice Provider - Inpatient

Location: Swedish Hospital and Evanston Hospital

Full Time Schedule: Monday thru Friday 9am - 5pm with occasional evening coverage

On Call: 6 weekends a year

We are seeking a licensedAdvanced Practice Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our inpatient program at Swedish Hospital and Evanston Hospital

Responsibilities

• Primary Inpatient Role: Serve as the primary clinician responsible for direct care of inpatient admissions.
• Clinical Evaluation & Management: Conduct chart reviews, initial clinical evaluations, and ongoing medication management.
• Physician Collaboration: Consult and discuss complex cases regularly with collaborating physicians.
• Team Communication: Provide routine patient updates to unit staff during clinical staffings and conduct collateral calls.
• Patient & Family Engagement: Lead family meetings and oversee the complete discharge planning process

Qualifications

• Inpatient Experience: 3+ years of inpatient clinical experience strongly preferred.
• Patient Volume: 8+ patients per day, including multiple daily admissions/new assessments.

• Current Illinois APRN or PA licensure or pending
• Active DEA registration with Schedule III prescribing authority
• Eligible to prescribe buprenorphine for opioid use disorder
• Experience in psychiatry, addiction medicine, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), or behavioral health preferred
• Strong clinical judgment and commitment to evidence-based care
• Ability to work collaboratively under established protocols and Medical Director oversight
