Job description

Job Overview

RHSC in St. Paul, MN is looking for an exceptional, patient focused Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our Cardiology APP team. The Cardiology Advanced Practice Provider (APP) provides both inpatient and outpatient services.

Work Schedule

Monday–Friday, 8‑hour or 10‑hour shifts, total 40 hours per week. Occasional weekends.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate inpatient service flow, review daily patient lists, prioritize consultations, develop daily work plan with attending and staff, assist in assigning residents and students.
  • Assess and complete H&P on new consults, order diagnostics, evaluate treatment, develop follow‑up plans, and document in EMR.
  • Communicate with patients and families, provide education, write prescriptions.
  • Regularly review diagnostics, communicate results to partner cardiologist, modify plan as needed.
  • Assist with hospital discharge communication to primary care physicians.
  • See patients independently in the cardiology clinic, see revisits, staff new patients, prescribe, order tests, manage inbox, and collaborate with other providers.
Qualifications – Required
  • Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current registration to practice as a Physician Assistant in Minnesota, national certification by NCCPA, and approval by Minnesota Board of Medical Practice for prescription writing privileges (verified during credentialing).
  • Licensed as APRN and RN by the Minnesota Board of Nursing, AANP certification, current BLS, ACLS, and DEA certification (verified during credentialing).
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and DEA certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience as an independently practicing APP.
  • 1–2 years of prior cardiology experience.
Physical Requirements

Stands 4–6 hours, walks 2–4 hours daily, may view computer screen up to 3 hours, lifts, pushes, or pulls equipment up to 50 lbs, and requires fine motor skills.
