Title: Advanced Practice Provider, Cardiac Surgery ICU

Reports to: Lead APP, Cardiac Services

Position Summary

The APP will manage all aspects of perioperative care of cardiac patients in collaboration with our multidisciplinary Cardiac Services team.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies, and Behaviors.
  • Performs the professional, clinical, and technical competencies of an acute care APP in the Department of Cardiac Services, including daily rounding with the multidisciplinary team, formulation and implementation of care plans, invasive bedside procedures, and ACLS protocols.
  • Writes orders for medications, laboratory work, and diagnostic tests; interprets laboratory and diagnostic results.
  • Evaluates medical/surgical problems of cardiac patients and requests consults to other specialties when indicated.
  • Coordinates safe discharge/transfer of cardiac patients.
  • Provides education to patients and families about preventive care, medical issues, and treatments.
  • Documents all evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatments, outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and billing requirements.
  • Performs invasive bedside procedures required for cardiac patients.
  • If applicable, assists in cardiac surgical procedures, including endoscopic and open conduit harvesting.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Program
  • Current National Certification
  • Minimum of 2 years of Cardiothoracic Surgery APP experience
  • Experience in endoscopic conduit harvesting
  • Current New York State Licensure
  • Current DEA Licensure
  • Current BLS and ACLS Certification
  • Current Infection Control Certification
  • Basic computer skills; experience with Epic software preferred

Additional Information

Salary Range: $146,679 - $219,980. The listed salary is a good faith estimate and may be adjusted based on various factors including experience, education, and internal policies.
