Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide comprehensive, team-based care to patients in the Rhode Island Hospital MICU in Providence. The role involves admissions H&P, daily progress notes, orders and procedures under the supervision of attending physicians from Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited NP/PA program.
• RI licensure as NP or PA required.
• ACLS certification required.
• Critical care experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive, team-based care to patients admitted to the MICU.
• Admission H&Ps, daily progress notes, orders, procedures (and all matters of direct patient care).
• Work under the supervision of attending physicians from the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, and CC/Critical Care Fellows.
• Coordinate care with interns/residents from Brown University Internal Medicine Residency Program.
• Ensure good communication with the patient’s primary care team throughout services.
• Work within the Division Director, Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives as directed by the Division Director.
• Other duties as assigned by Division Director.

SUMMARY

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive, team-based care to patients admitted to the Rhode Island Hospital Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU).
• Responsible for admission H & Ps, daily progress notes, orders, procedures (and all matters of direct patient care).
• Works under the direct supervision of the attending physicians from the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, as well as the Critical Care Fellows and Pulmonary/Critical Care Fellows from RIH and TMH, while on duty in the MICU and PCCSM consults including critical care triage.
• Work along with interns or residents from the Brown University Internal Medicine Residency Program to coordinate care.
• Responsible for ensuring good communication with patient's primary care team/provider throughout our services.
• Work within and be responsible to the Division Director, Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives as determined by the Division Director of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine.
• Other duties as assigned by Division Director.

EDUCATION

• Graduation from an accredited NP/PA program

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

• RI licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant is required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

• Critical Care experience a plus.
• Experience with EMR (Epic) preferred.
