Job summary

Vail Health in Colorado is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider to support the Urgent Care Clinic in Eagle County. You will evaluate patients, develop and monitor treatment plans in collaboration with a physician, and educate patients about diagnoses and care.

The role features peak/non-peak scheduling, medical/dental/vision benefits, a 403(b) retirement plan with company match, and a performance-based bonus incentive program. Prior PA/NP experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Three years of experience as a physician assistant or nurse practitioner preferred.
  • Bilingual English / Spanish preferred.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates patient reviewing medical history and performs an appropriate physical exam.
  • Interprets and evaluates patient data in collaboration with a physician.
  • Assists in developing and monitoring treatment plans.
  • Educates patients about diagnoses and treatment plans.
  • Administers or orders laboratory, radiological and diagnostic tests as needed.

About The Opportunity

The Advance Practice Provider (APP) will support our Urgent Care Clinic in Eagle County, Colorado. They will perform tasks, treat patients, and develop/ monitor treatment plans in collaboration with, or as directed by, the supporting physician. We Are Looking For Someone Who Is Looking For The Flexibility To Maintain Year-round, Full-time Employment While Working Hours That Support Our Peak And Non-peak Periods As Outlined Below
Peak and Non-Peak Periods
  • The Peak period is generally defined as late December through mid-April, July and August.
  • The Non-Peak period will be the balance of the year not included within Peak Season.
Peak Period

During the Peak Period, employee will be scheduled to work four (4) twelve* hour shifts per week in any Eagle County Urgent Care location, a total of 96 per pay period. If employee works an extra shift (above the required 4 shifts/week) employee will be paid locums pay consistent with Vail Health/CMM policies.

Non-Peak

During the Non-Peak Period, employee will be scheduled to work two (2) twelve* hour shifts and one (1) 8 hour on-call/admin shift per week. If available, Employee can voluntarily pick up shifts during the Non-Peak Period and may be put on call or called off in accordance with the Hospital’s On-Call / Call-Back / Call-Off policy and department staffing and scheduling processes.

What You Will Do
  • Evaluates patient reviewing medical history and performs an appropriate physical exam.
  • Interprets and evaluates patient data as authorized by a physician for the purpose of determining management and treatment of patients. Consults with physician as appropriate.
  • Assists in the development of a treatment plan and appropriate follow-up care.
  • Educates the patient about the diagnosis and treatment plan.
  • Adjusts patient care plan by reviewing and monitoring treatments and therapy plans.
  • Administers or orders laboratory, radiological and diagnostic tests that will assist with the medical management; explain the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipates effects of treatments, and diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.
  • Performs in-clinic procedures, including but not limited to, catheter placements, percutaneous tibial nerve stimulation, and urodynamic studies.
  • Assists with surgical procedures as instructed.
  • Prescribes, recommends, and regulates appropriate pharmacologic medicine.
  • Documents appropriately and communicates with the supporting physician in a timely manner as required, including, but not limited to: evaluations, treatment plans, progress reports, billing documentation, treatment notes, and other reports as requested.
  • Keeps current on new knowledge gained from conferences, workshops, professional literature, or other training and assimilates this knowledge into clinical practice.
  • Takes on-call phone coverage as assigned.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality per HIPPA requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience
What you will need
  • Three years of experience as a physician assistant or nurse practitioner preferred.

License(s)
  • Professional licensure - Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) required.
  • Current Colorado license in good standing.
  • Valid DEA Drug License.
