Job summary

Baptist Health in South Florida seeks a PA to manage care for acutely ill patients in collaboration with supervising physicians. You will perform assessments, exams, medical history, order tests, diagnose, create treatment plans, prescribe regimens, and educate patients and families. May lead during codes and participate in quality initiatives across the system.

Required: MSN or DNP, Florida PA license, NCCPA, BLS, DEA, ACLS; oncology experience preferred; maintain CME/licensure and credentials.

Qualifications

• MSN or DNP preferred.
• 5 years acute care nursing experience required.
• Compliant with Florida CEUs and licensure.
• DEA License required.
• ACLS required.
• Nurse Practitioner National Certification required.
• Must obtain medical staff credentialing and privileges for practice location.
• Oncology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directly manages care of complex acutely ill patients with supervising physicians, via face-to-face or telehealth.
• Provide quality patient care, perform assessments, exams, and obtain medical history.
• Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests.
• Diagnose, develop treatment plans, prescribe medical regimens, and educate patients and families.
• Collaborate with physicians, staff, and administration to ensure quality care across the health system.
• Lead during code rescue/blue and participate in research initiatives when available.
• Coordinate discharge planning and patient care across the area of practice.

Description

In collaboration with supervising physician(s), the PA directly manages the care of complex acutely ill patients with or without chronic diseases via face-to-face, telehealth, or other communication devices. An expert in patient care who can provide quality care, perform patient assessments, physical examinations, and medical history. The PA can order and interpret a variety of laboratory and diagnostic tests. The PA can diagnose, develop appropriate treatment plans, prescribe medical regimen, and educate patients/family regarding diagnosis and plan of care. The Delineation of Privileges helps structure the care and management that the PA provides for patients. The PA works collaboratively with physicians, staff, and administration to ensure quality of care across the health system. The PA can be a team leader during code rescue/blue. The PA integrates evidence-based practice and technological advances into their scope of practice. When available, the PA may participate in research initiatives, data collection, quality improvement, discharge planning, and coordination of patient care within the area of practice. The PA participates in and facilitates patient throughput, optimal patient outcomes, optimal length of stay and improved patient satisfaction. Estimated pay range for this position is $72.00 / hour depending on shift as applicable.

Qualified APRNs will require:

Degrees

• Required education is a Master Science Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) preferred.

Licenses & Certifications

• Basic Life Support.
• Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.

Additional Qualifications

• 5 years acute care nursing experience required.
• Compliant with state of Florida requirements for CEUs and licensure.
• DEA License required as per specialty/function.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support required as per specialty/function.
• Nurse Practitioner National Certification required.
• Obtain medical staff credentialing and privileges as needed for practice location.
• Oncology RN or ARNP experience preferred.
