OrthoNebraska is seeking a energetic, patient-focused Physician Assistant (PA) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to join our orthopedic team on a PRN basis. The role supports our physicians in treating orthopedic injuries and works evening shifts and weekends, with on-demand FTE hours.

The position involves clinic-based care, prescription support, patient communication, and participation in safety and quality initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Certified PA or APRN with Nebraska license or eligibility.
  • Minimum two years APP experience, preferably orthopedics.

Responsibilities

Job description

OrthoNebraska is looking for an energetic, detail-oriented and patient-focused Physician Assistant (PA) / Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to join our team.

This PA/APRN will work closely with our Orthopedic Physicians to provide treatment of orthopedic injuries and ailments.

  • Position: PRN
  • Shift: Evenings and Weekends
  • FTE / Hours: 0 / As needed
  • Schedule: 5pm - 10pm; Weekends 10a-2p
  • Location: Floats between Urgent Cares
Department/Position Details/Duties:
  • Provides medical services and clinical education to patients in a clinic setting. Provides medical care and treatment to existing patients
  • Promotes the professional practice of the clinic by maintaining and improving rapport with peers, patients, and the medical community.
  • Responsible for dictating medical finding on patients in a timely and concise manner.
  • Assists physicians in writing new prescriptions and prescription refills
  • Communicates test results to patients in a timely manner
  • Assists physicians in the completion of Worker's Compensation forms, dictation of attorney letters, and other responsibilities as requested.
  • Assists with on-call duties as needed.
  • Comply with safety activities, policies and procedures and regulatory requirements such as OSHA and The Joint Commission.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities.
  • Attend and participate in department meetings.
  • Attend mandatory educational programs.
  • Follow established guidelines as stated in hospital and departmental policies and procedures
Position Requirements:
Education:
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program or Master's degree in nursing from an accredited school/college of nursing required.
  • Licensed or licensure eligible as a Physician Assistant (PA) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of Nebraska and Iowa
Experience:
  • Minimum two years of APP experience required
  • Experience within an Orthopedic environment (especially with knee and hip treatment)
  • Efficient use of information systems, data processing systems, telecommunication devices, office equipment, and etc.
Physical:
  • This position is classified as Medium Work in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, requiring the exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Must be able to pass background check. We also conduct pre-employment physical and drug testing. Any job offer will be contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment physical with a drug screen, background check and obtaining active licensures per job requirements.
