Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Advanced Practice Professional (AGACNP or PA) to join our Orthopaedic Surgery Team in our inpatient setting at Davie Medical Center. The APP will work closely with orthopaedic surgeons to provide high-quality care to patients undergoing orthopaedic procedures and will also cross cover Neurosurgical spine patients. Responsibilities include patient assessments, orthopaedic consults, managing postoperative care including pain management, and developing treatment plans.

Job Summary

Participates in team-focused patient care through examinations augmented by diagnostic and therapeutic evaluations/interventions in medical and surgical settings. The clinician functions under the regulatory mandates from their respective licensing organization (North Carolina Medical Board or North Carolina Board of Nursing) with departmental specific credentialing from the institution.

What You’ll Do:
  • Conduct thorough patient examinations and evaluations in medical/surgical settings.
  • Use medical decision-making skills to determine appropriate patient care plans.
  • Collaborate with the medical team for effective team-based care.
  • Order and interpret laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures. Explain procedures to patients.
  • Participate in basic science and clinical research projects.
  • Precept students and medical learners.
  • Uphold AHWFB missions, values, and cultural commitments.
  • Perform other duties incidental to the work described herein.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Current North Carolina Medical Board Medical License, NCCPA certification.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • DEA and DPS registration for prescription writing.
  • Graduation from accredited Nurse Practitioner Master's Program; Master’s degree or higher.
  • Current North Carolina Board of Nursing RN and NP licenses.
  • Board certified as an AGACNP by AANP or ANCC.
