Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System seeks a Physician Assistant to provide patient care under supervising physician in inpatient, surgical, and/or outpatient settings. You will perform assessments, orders, procedures, and coordinate care with medical teams.

Responsibilities include documenting care, communicating plans to teams and patients, and maintaining licensure and certifications as required by NYS law and hospital policy.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited PA program with Masters preferred.
• NCCPA board certification.
• New York State licensure for physician assistants.
• DEA licensure for prescriptive authority.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Infection control certification preferred.
• 0–2 years of clinical experience in the specialty hire or recent graduate.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for patient care with supervising physician and collaboration with medical teams and staffing.
• Includes patient assessment, management, diagnosis, treatment planning and ordering tests.
• Writes into patient records accurately and timely.
• Provides consultation to nursing and other medical teams and staff.
• Collaborates with supervising physicians and care team to prioritize patient safety and quality.
• Performs delegated clinical duties efficiently.
• Practices within scope of supervising physician.
• Communicates assessment and care planning to patient and families.
• Facilitates continuity of care across multidisciplinary services.
• Maintains adherence to clinical policies and procedures.
• Maintains required certifications and licensure per hospital policy and privileges.
• Maintains Mount Sinai Health System privileges as delegated by Medical Staff Services.
