TriHealth is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider for the Critical Care CVICU at Bethesda North Hospital. The APP will work with a full spectrum of specialists in a high‑caliber, 24/7 critical care team, handling admissions, diagnostics, treatments, and family communication.

The APRN role requires a Master’s in Nursing, NP/CNS/midwife program completion, and licensure, with 3–4 years of clinical nursing experience.

Job Overview

The APRN II is a nurse prepared with graduate level nursing education and authorized to practice and prescribe as a Clinical Nurse Specialist or Certified Nurse Practitioner in collaboration with one or more physicians or podiatrists. Advanced clinical practice in nursing includes assessment of patient health status, diagnostic testing, diagnosis, development and implementation of treatment plans, follow‑up and evaluation of the patient’s response to treatment, accurate documentation, and patient advocacy. APRNs design, implement and evaluate patient‑specific and population‑based programs of care and promote care through a variety of methods. APRNs function at all levels of the healthcare system within three spheres of influence: client, personnel, and organization, and must have a collaborating physician(s) in an associated Standard Care Arrangement. The APRN II must spend 50 % of hours worked utilizing prescriptive authority in their advanced clinical practice role.

Job Responsibilities

• Collaborate and consult with the interdisciplinary healthcare team, the patient and family when diagnosing, prioritizing problems, and implementing interventions.
• Provide consultation and initiate referrals to other healthcare team members and promote collaboration among team members.
• Assist interdisciplinary team members, patients, and families in selecting therapies that integrate cost and quality perspectives.
• Collaborate with other disciplines in teaching, consultation, management, and research activities to improve nursing outcomes and the healthcare environment.
• Provide effective leadership and integrate analysis of cost and benefits in care decisions.
• Design and develop innovative solutions for patient care problems that utilize resource efficiency while maintaining or improving quality and advancing best practices.
• Lead the development and application of consensus-derived protocols or evidence-based practice guidelines in the clinical setting.
• Participate in healthcare-related decision-making at the system, local, state, and national levels with an emphasis on improving patient outcomes.
• Serve in key roles by participating in or leading committees, councils, and administrative teams.
• Utilize, participate in, and disseminate research, evidence-based practice, or quality improvement projects to enhance clinical practice and patient outcomes.
• Serve as primary or co-investigator, or member of the investigative team in conducting nursing or collaborative research.
• Critically evaluate existing practice based on current research findings and integrate changes into practice through an EBP project.
• Evaluate processes of care by serving as a leader or team member in relevant quality improvement projects.
• Promote mentoring and education to nursing by serving as a Journal Club mentor and facilitating learning in critically appraising the literature.
• Provide education to patients, families, and healthcare providers to promote best practice.
• Serve as a teacher, mentor, role model to nurses, promoting research and EBP; preceptor and mentor to staff nurses, colleagues, and nursing students.
• Teach, coach, and support nurses and other healthcare professionals to advance patient care.
• Provide education to the patient and their family for health promotion including secondary prevention strategies.
• Collaborate in the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of patient and staff educational needs.
• Ensure nursing practice is conducted in an ethical and legal manner, abiding by the Ohio Scope of Practice as an APRN.
• Provide safe, compassionate, competent, and ethical care, demonstrating the highest level of accountability for professional practice.
• Preserve the patient’s dignity, serve as a patient advocate, promote advanced directives and end‑of‑life decisions and palliative care with the patient, family members, physician and healthcare team as appropriate.
• At least 50 % of the position involves direct management of patient and family care.
• Independently perform and document a complete history and physical examination, including psychosocial assessment.
• Prescribe drugs and therapeutic devices consistent with the formulary under section 4723.50 of the Ohio Revised Code.
• Assess for interactive and synergistic effects of multiple pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic interventions.
• Order laboratory and radiologic tests and interpret results.
• Collaborate with physicians to plan and implement a comprehensive plan of care.
• Discuss patient’s care with family members.
• Perform duties per the Standard Care Arrangement.
