Job summary

TriHealth seeks an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) to join a physician office team. The role emphasizes clinical leadership, collaboration with physicians, and delivering evidence‑based care within a patient‑centered, community‑focused setting.

The APRN II will assess health, diagnose, develop and implement treatment plans, and advocate for patients and populations. Collaboration with physicians and a standard care arrangement are required.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Nursing.
• Graduate from NP, CNS or midwife program.
• Specialty certification in area of expertise.
• Registered Nurse with APRN Licensure.
• Demonstrated expertise in area of clinical specialization.
• Professional membership in specialty nursing organization required within one year of start date.
• 3–4 years of clinical nursing experience in geriatric, occupational health, or related setting.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to diagnose, prioritize problems, implement interventions, and coordinate referrals.
• Assists with selecting therapies considering cost, quality, and benefit; collaborates in teaching, consultation, management, and research to improve practice.
• Provides leadership by analyzing cost–benefit, designing resource‑efficient care solutions, and guiding EBPs and protocols.
• Participates in healthcare decision‑making at multiple levels to improve patient outcomes and serves on committees.
• Disseminates research and quality‑improvement efforts; mentors staff in evidence‑based practice.
• Educates patients and families; mentors staff; promotes nursing research and education needs.
• Ensures ethical, safe, and compassionate practice; prescribes within scope; orders/tests and collaborates on care plans.

Job Overview:

The APRN II is a nurse prepared with graduate level nursing education and authorized to practice and prescribe as a Clinical Nurse Specialist or Certified Nurse Practitioner in collaboration with one or more physicians or podiatrists. Advanced clinical practice in nursing includes the following components: assessment of patient health status, diagnostic testing, diagnoses, development of treatment plans, implementation of treatment plans, follow-up and evaluation of the patient’s response to treatment, accurate documentation of the patient’s status, and patient advocacy. APRNs are clinical experts who design, implement and evaluate patient‑specific and population‑based programs of care and promote care through a variety of methods. APRNs function at all levels of the healthcare system within three sphere of influence: client, personnel, and organization. APRNs must have a collaborating physician(s) in an associated Standard Care Arrangement. The APRN II must spend 50% of hours worked utilizing prescriptive authority in their advanced clinical practice role.

Job Responsibilities:

• Collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team, patients, and families to diagnose, prioritize problems, implement interventions, and coordinate referrals while promoting teamwide collaboration.
• Assists team members, patients, and families in selecting therapies by integrating considerations of cost, quality, and benefit, and partners with other disciplines in teaching, consultation, management, and research to improve nursing practice and the healthcare environment.
• Provides effective leadership by analyzing cost–benefit considerations, designing innovative, resource‑efficient care solutions, and guiding the development and application of evidence‑based practice (EBP) guidelines and consensus protocols.
• Participates in healthcare decision‑making at system, local, state, and national levels to improve patient outcomes, and serves in leadership roles on committees, councils, and administrative teams.
• Utilizes, participates in, and disseminates research, EBP, and quality‑improvement projects; evaluates current practice based on research; and mentors nurses through activities such as Journal Club and appraisal of clinical literature.
• Provides education to patients, families, nurses, students, and other healthcare professionals; mentors and precepts staff; promotes nursing research and EBP; and collaborates in assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating educational needs.
• Ensures ethical and legal nursing practice; provides safe, compassionate, accountable care; advocates for patients’ wishes and end‑of‑life decisions; and independently conducts comprehensive assessments, prescribes medications and devices within scope, orders and interprets tests, and collaborates with physicians to implement comprehensive care plans.
