Job summary

Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains is hiring for a nurse practitioner or CNM to support abortion care and reproductive health services in the Albuquerque area, with training that may require travel to Denver. You will work in a dynamic team focused on patient-centered care, education, and counseling across pregnancy options.

Ideal candidates hold an active NP/CNM license, meet state requirements, and have 2+ years in reproductive health; DEA is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Active NP or CNM license in the state where care will be provided.
  • Meets state licensing and certification requirements with prescriptive authority.
  • 2+ years of reproductive health experience or related PPRM experience.
  • DEA certification is held or willing to obtain.
  • Eligible for Medicaid credentialing with payors.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive physical exams focused on reproductive health for all genders.
  • Onboard with in‑house training on first trimester ultrasound and gender affirming care.
  • Perform cancer screenings, diagnose/treat STIs, and complete advanced clinical procedures.
  • Deliver contraceptive counseling, education, and method provision.
  • Participate in abortion care through counseling, referrals, scheduling, and/or direct provision.
  • Offer patient‑centered, trauma‑informed care, including medication abortion and gender affirming care.
  • Collaborate with patients, care teams, and community agencies to support holistic care.
  • Aim to advance access to reproductive healthcare while meeting quality goals as a clinical leader.

Job description

We’re hiring for a brand-new health center opening soon in the Albuquerque area! Candidate selected for this role will start their time at our Albuquerque location before transitioning to the new site when it opens. This is a unique chance to be part of a growing team and help launch a new facility dedicated to exceptional patient care.

Abortion Care:

At PPRM, we all work in abortion care. This role supports abortion care through direct clinical triage, patient education, and follow-up, ensuring timely and empathetic support to those navigating abortion services.

Union:

This role is represented by SEIU, Local 105 and is governed by the terms of a collective bargaining agreement.

Paid Training:

To give you the best training possible in the shortest amount of time you may need to travel to Denver for 2-4 weeks during the first 1 to 2 months of employment.

Our Ideal Candidate:
  • Active Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) license in the state where care will be provided (e.g., Colorado or New Mexico).
  • Meets state licensing and certification requirements and hold an active state license with prescriptive authority (full prescriptive authority required in Colorado).
  • 2+ year experience in reproductive health or prior related experience with PPRM.
  • Holds or is willing to obtain DEA certification.
  • Eligible for credentialing with Medicaid and other payors (no restrictions).
  • Completes in‑house ultrasound training within 1 year if practicing.
  • Must be BLS Certified
What You'll Do:
  • Provide comprehensive physical exams with a focus on reproductive health for all genders.
  • Comprehensive onboarding program including in-house training on first trimester ultrasound and gender affirming care.
  • Perform cancer screenings, diagnose/treat STIs, and complete advanced clinical procedures.
  • Deliver contraceptive counseling, education, and method provision.
  • Participate in abortion care through counseling, referrals, scheduling, and/or direct provision.
  • Provide patient‑centered, trauma‑informed care, including medication abortion and gender‑affirming care, following all laws and PPRM Medical Standards & Guidelines.
  • Partner with patients, care teams, and community agencies to support holistic care.
  • Advance access to reproductive healthcare while achieving quality and performance goals as a clinical leader.

Starting Pay:$49.23–$65.16/hour(based on experience in reproductive/sexual healthcare or with PPRM)

Additional Pay:+$2.25/hour for Spanish fluency (upon passing test)

Sign-On Bonus:$6,000 ($3,000 upon starting; $3,000 after 1 year of continuous employment) and Relocation Assistance may be available for qualified candidates.

Relocation Bonus:out-of-state moves: $6,000 / In-state moves if living at least a 2.5-hour distance from the new work location: $3,000

Schedule:Full-time ~37.5 hours/week; Benefits Eligible

COVID-19 Protocol:

Vaccination against COVID-19 will no longer be a condition of employment. However, all Health Center/Patient or Community Facing Employees, must have the COVID vaccine or wear a mask at all times beginning November 1st. Proof must be uploaded upon hire. Flu Protocol:

All employees working directly with patients, the community or working in a health center will be required to have the flu shot or wear a mask during patient/community contact or while in the health center from November 1 – April 30 each year (Flu Season).
