Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System in Maryland seeks an experienced Nurse Practitioner to provide comprehensive care under limited supervision for a specific patient population. You will diagnose, treat, educate, and coordinate with physicians, nursing staff, and case managers to optimize outcomes.

Excellence in communication and adherence to safety standards are essential. Required are an MSN NP degree, MD licensure as NP and RN in Maryland, and a current BLS certification.

Qualifications

• MSN with completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in Maryland.
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse in Maryland.
• BLS certification active or obtained prior to direct patient care; DEA and CDS eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Performs medical examinations, diagnoses, treatment and health education appropriate to the patient’s age and situation.
• Orders, obtains and interprets diagnostic tests.
• Designs, orders and documents treatment plans and medications.
• Communicates plan of care with physicians, case managers, nursing staff and other providers.
• Educates patients and families about plan of care, disease process, and medications.
• Maintains privacy and security of patient information.
• Collaborates with health care team to assess patient needs and outcomes.
• Initiates contact with other health care providers as required.
• Ensures patient safety and reports adverse events as needed.
