Job summary

Precise Systems is seeking a full-time materials engineer to join a multidisciplinary team working on polymer, composite and metallic systems for Navy programs. The position is based in Washington, DC or Key West, FL with regular travel to NRLKW and other Navy facilities.

Responsibilities include mechanical testing, data analysis, modeling, and developing material qualification specifications to support product delivery and lifecycle performance.

Qualifications

• 3 years' experience in materials research and engineering projects.
• Experience with FEA modeling and MATLAB data analysis.
• Strong knowledge of polymers, composites, and adhesives properties.
• Ability to develop material qualification specifications and to perform mechanical testing.

Responsibilities

• Develop test data to predict field performance of polymer and composite designs.
• Research and communicate engineering approaches for plastics in seawater environment.
• Perform mechanical testing and generate experimental data.
• Develop material qualification specifications.
• Use modeling and data to support investigations and product delivery.
• Interface with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
