Job summary

Johnston-Willis Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking an Advanced Patient Care Technician (PCT) to assist the nursing team with patient care in an emergency setting.

You will perform advanced clinical tasks under the guidance of a registered nurse, including phlebotomy, telemetry monitoring, and ADLs, while ensuring safety and compassionate care for patients and families.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• 1+ years experience acute patient care experience in a healthcare facility is preferred.
• Completion of training and demonstration of competency in one or more specialized functions within scope is required.
• CNA, LNA, or EMT Training Program, or Military Medic Training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Observe patients, document changes, and communicate them with the nursing team.
• Help patients with daily needs (ADLs) such as eating, drinking, bathing, and moving safely.
• Provide advanced care, including phlebotomy, telemetry monitoring, removing IV lines and catheters, and care for wounds.
• Assist with supporting tasks like collecting lab samples and assisting with clerical duties to keep care running smoothly.
• Look ahead to what patients might need, respond quickly, and help ensure every experience feels seamless and compassionate.
