Job summary

The Veterans Health Administration, Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a GS-07 Primary Care Outpatient Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to perform complex nursing assignments under general supervision.

The LPN will collaborate with RNs and HC Providers, document care and patient responses, and perform a range of nursing procedures in an outpatient setting. Strong English proficiency and valid LPN licensure are required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a school of practical or vocational nursing approved by the appropriate State agency and/or NLNAC accredited at program completion
• Active, full, unrestricted LPN/LVN licensure in a US state/territory/DC
• English language proficiency as required for VA direct patient care positions

Responsibilities

• Promotes and demonstrates nursing concepts in the Medical Center
• Works in collaboration with the Registered Nurse (RN) and Health Care Provider (HCP)
• Documents care provided and patient responses using appropriate forms and observes changes in condition
• Performs nursing care procedures (sterile techniques, glucose monitoring, wound care, etc.) according to policy and supervision
• Reports and records significant veteran information and suggests care plan modifications
• Participate in unit-based Shared Governance and contribute to quality care improvements with clinical expertise
